PQA: VFD measurement

Amongst the many power quality parameters, those associated with VDF measurements/analysis are a special subgroup and require dedicated solutions for accurate and reliable analysis. We have developed one such feature, which can be found on MI 2893 Power Master XT, MI 2892 Power Master and MI 2885 Master Q4 power quality analysers.
What is VFD?
Variable-frequency drive or VFD is a type of adjustable-speed drive used in electro-mechanical drive systems to control AC motor speed and torque by varying motor input frequency and voltage. They are most commonly used in system that regulate fluid flow (fans, water pumps etc.) since they are more efficient in those application than comparable control systems.
The VFD measuring feature offers measurement and recording of basic sampling frequency, harmonic and interharmonic components and number of measuring cycles – they are performed with the same accuracy and within the same measuring range than other parameters at 50 / 60 Hz with the distinction of flicker measurement (not measured). Checking if the VFD controller is working properly, i.e. within stated parameters is paramount for timely detection of errors and preserving or even extending expected life expectancy of both the VFD and controlled motor drive.
