with MI 3325 MultiServicerXD

With both the growing number and complexities of different portable appliances and machines the need for comprehensive electric safety testing was never greater, with few appropriate technological solutions on the market for safety engineers and manufacturers of said devices. Reasons for this are numerous, from intricacies of specific appliances/machines and the need for specialized accessories to outdated testing protocols, which are complicated and time consuming. A true niche testing application, where versatility and ease of use are the norm. Words that could very well describe Metrel’s newest product – the MI 3325 MultiServicerXD.
The MI 3325 MultiServicerXD is the latest addition to Metrel’s line of machine and switchboard testers and a successor to MI 3321 MultiServicerXA, but one far more versatile. Built on new colour touch screen hardware platform, it offers unprecedented ease of use, connectivity, especially of wireless nature, with advanced accessories and PCs and mobile devices, and is designed to be easily integrated in production and testing lines. Even more, Metrel has developed a dedicated SDK, enabling more tech-savvy users to use and communicate with the instrument using their own custom created software application or modify and existing one. This naturally goes hand in hand with integration capabilities, where the instrument can be controlled remotely through one of communication gates/ports (ethernet, RS232, USB and Bluetooth).

Now, a word or two about supported measuring and testing procedures. The MI 3325 MultiServicerXD supports all the PAT/machine standard tests such as voltage, frequency, phase rotation, continuity, insulation, power, PE/touch/differential leakage current, polarity, line/loop impedance and many more, including HV AC programmable (up to 1.5 kV) and Hi-Pot AC (100 V…5 kV) tests. Versatility is further mirrored in multi-system flexibility (TT, TN, IT and 115 V supply systems), automated testing procedures (RCD/impedance testing), pre-defined and user created AUTO SEQUENCE®s and support for Metrel Electrical Safety Manager (MESM) software, which is practically ubiquitous for every Metrel’s new product.
Another important and useful feature is measurement filtering according to the selected area group. Put plainly, this enables the user who goes out to test welding equipment to have only relevant measuring and testing procedures presented on the screen, thus greatly mitigating possible confusion and error occurrence. Besides welding equipment testing (in accordance with the IEC/EN 60974-4 standard), which requires the use of an optional A 1422 Active 3-phase adapter, the MI 3325 MultiServicerXD is perfectly suitable for machine testing (the IEC/EN 60204-1 standard) and switchgear/control gear testing (the IEC/EN 61439-1 standard). Returning back to user-friendliness, the instrument can be used in conjunction with the A 1460 CE adapter that facilitates easy execution of Auto Sequence®s with a single button press on the A 1511 Tip commander (versions with 2.5/5 m cable) and can be easily integrated in a production line or testing facility (using the A 1585 Rack mount adapter for MI 3325), together with the A 1460 CE adapter (using the A 1586 Rack mount adapter for A 1460 CE Adapter).
Even more, the MI 3325 MultiServicerXD supports usage of other new products (adapters), MI 3143 Euro Z 440 V and MI 3144 Euro Z 800 V. They enable highly accurate 4-wire impedance (Zline and Zloop) measurements at 440 V (800 V for MI 3144 Euro Z 800 V) on 16…420 Hz AC networks, earth potentials through measurements of step, touch and transfer voltages and many other measurements and tests, pertinent to testing in demanding industrial environments. On top of that, both adapters can be wirelessly (Bluetooth) connected to the MI 3325 MultiServicerXD and controlled through the instrument itself or with a mobile device (with installed A 1522 aMESM Android app).
Another supported adapter is the new A 1632 eMobility Analyser, a powerful and versatile testing tool, designed for comprehensive electrical safety and functional testing of electrical vehicle charging stations (EVSE) and other equipment (connection cables, charging adapters etc.). More specifically, it offers functional, diagnostic (via simulation of errors on CP circuit and mains) and electrical safety (of cables with installed IC-CPD protection) testing of Mode 2 EV cables. Also supported is electrical safety testing of Mode 3 EV cables. Moreover it can monitor communication between the charging station and the vehicle during the actual charging process and can communicate with the MI 3325 MultiServicerXD through Bluetooth.
All in all a powerful testing and measuring solution for safety inspectors, electrical equipment manufacturers and repair and maintenance services dealing with large, complex machines and appliances.
