Each instrument that leaves the production floor is calibrated in the factory and by default obtains an ISO certificate. Our calibration laboratory is also accredited by Slovenian Accreditation (SA) body which is a full member of EA (European co-operation for Accreditation) and ILAC (International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation) and can offer accredited calibrations. Altogether we offer three types of certificates.

Metrel’s calibration laboratory

Calibration laboratory at Metrel d.o.o. is accredited in compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 standard by the Slovenian Accreditation (under LK-011).

ISO certificate

Every instrument produced in Metrel gets by default an ISO certificate (in accordance with ISO 9001), with the exception of digital multimeters, current clamps and voltage testers (can be obtained for a small fee*). Each ISO certificate also includes measurement data.

PASS certificate

This certificate declares that the instrument performs with the stated (in the datasheet) accuracy, but does not include measurement data*. It is given after repair (for a small fee) to all instruments and by default to our digital multimeters, current clamps and voltage testers.

*Note: Measurement data cannot be obtained retrospectively after issuing PASS certificate (since it is not saved after the calibration procedure). Data acquisition during calibration automatically entails upgrading to an ISO certificate.

Adjustment vs. calibration

The main difference between adjustment and calibration of a measuring device (in layman’s terms) is that calibration entails just observing the measuring accuracy of the device during a measuring procedure, without changing/adjusting the said device. Adjustment on the other hand involves actively changing/adjusting the device during the measuring procedure in order to work with the stated (in the datasheet) accuracy. Below are official and more comprehensive definitions.

Adjustment (of a measuring instrument)*

(4.33) Operation of bringing a measuring instrument into a state of performance suitable for its use.

(6.13) Set of operations that establish, under specified conditions, the relationship between values of quantities indicated by a measuring instrument or measuring system, or values represented by a material measure or a reference material, and the corresponding values realized by standards.
